Bio

Madeleine has a BA from Smith College (Massachusetts), and a BFA and an MFA with honors from the School of Visual Arts (NYC). She also graduated from Teachers College (NYC) with a MA in Art and Art Education.

Madeleine had her first solo exhibition at Bienvenu Steinberg and C Gallery in their viewing room last Spring. She also has exhibited her artwork in group shows at New York City venues such as Ronald Feldman Gallery, Exit Art, School of Visual Arts Galleries, Fountain House Gallery, Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning, El Barrio Art Space, and Culture Lab. She had an artist book at the Center for Book Art's table at the Art on Paper fair in NYC September 2025.

Her artist books are included in permanent collections at such places as the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Thomas J. Watson Library, NYC), Art Institute of Chicago (Ryerson and Burnham Libraries, ILL), the National Museum of Women in the Arts (Library Research Center, DC), Bowdoin College (Bowdoin College Library, ME), Smith College (Hillyer Art Library, MA) and the Center for Book Arts (NYC). From 2000 until it was taken down, Madeleine's artwork was in the Drawing Center's (NYC) on-line artist registry called the Viewing Program.

When Madeleine was in high school, she got a painting and a sculpture into the New York Summer School of the Arts permanent collection. Creating art has been a lifelong soothing and healing hands-on exploration for Madeleine.
